About Kate Dion
Growing up in sunny Steveston, BC, I started honing my craft as a makeup artist at a young age.
Through dance competitions and theatre productions, I learned various techniques to accentuate and brighten the face for stage. As my education took me from UVic's acting programme to London's Central School of Speech and Drama, my makeup style evolved from stage and screen to everyday less is more makeup.
Estée Lauder hired me as a freelance artist for all of their luxury makeup brands, working in top retailers Harrods and Selfridges and training under several national artists. A couple of years later, I was hired by Dolce & Gabbana Cosmetics at Harrods and put through their makeup artistry training. Moving home to Vancouver in 2011, I resumed working as a beauty advisor for various different makeup brands in luxury retailers Holt Renfrew and Nordstrom.
After over a decade working for large companies, I decided to branch out on my own and create Kate Dion Makeup - or KDM as I like to call it. As a (mostly!) vegan animal and planet-lover, I wanted to exclusively use companies that aligned with my values and also to help break down the harmful narratives that the beauty industry has ingrained into our lives.
I use high quality, luxury and budget-friendly ethical and vegan companies that clearly demonstrate how they put people and planet over profit. I love sharing my passion for minimizing our makeup kits and reducing cosmetic consumption and waste as much as possible.
My day to day life includes working as an Educator for Elate Cosmetics, freelance makeup and hair work, acting work, and mum/aunty work.
I am here to help you feel as beautiful as you are, and most importantly, to look and feel like You.
